Discover the Next Generation Internet Summit

The Next Generation Internet Summit will be held at the European Parliament in Brussels on the 6th and 7th of June. It is organised by Atomium, the European Institute for Science, Media and Democracy in partnership in partnership with PlusValue, and is supported by the European Commission and Parliament through the EU funded project REIsearch (See: reisearch.eu/) as well as by BT, Deloitte, Elsevier, Huawei, Microsoft and Takeda.

NGIS logoThe event will provide the unique opportunity to discuss the results of a public consultation launched to allow Europeans citizens to have a say on the future of the internet and its impact on society. The consultation has been rolled out in 7 languages with the help of REIsearch media partners: El Pais, Il Sole24Ore, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Publico, Der Standard, Luxemburger Wort, La libre Belgique and Gazeta Wyborcza.

Confirmed speakers include Andrus Ansip, Frans Timmermans and Carlos Moedas, respectively Commissioners in charge of the Digital Agenda, Better Regulation and Research and Innovation. Key speakers from academia, the private and non-for-profit sectors include Hu Houkun, Deputy Chairman of the Board and rotating CEO, Huawei,Luciano Floridi, Professor of Philosophy and Ethics of Information at Oxford University, Kathryn C. Brown, President and CEO of the Internet Society, Olivier Dumon, Founder of Mendeley and Managing Director of Academic and Government Research Markets, Elsevier, Mark Little, Founder of Storyful, John Frank, Vice President EU Government Affairs, Microsoft and Jose Manuel Alonso, Director, Digital Citizenship – World Wide Web Foundation.
